Can you imagine? A 15 year old Australian teen from Westmeade Children’s Hospital in Sydney has been blessed with something NO OTHER transplant recipient can boast. The liver transplanted into her body has been fully accepted and not just integrated but her own body has changed to accept it. Essentially she […]

We’ve been keeping very busy over here. In a fit of exasperation I scheduled a time with her pediatrician last week to get some help figuring out this diarrhea thing. Everyone has their own opinion and it usually contradicts what the last physician told me to do with her. There’s the don’t-give-her-dairy-but-everything-else-is-fine […]

This last week we saw the GI specialist and it was less than I’d hoped for. He told me to put her back on dairy because I hadn’t noticed much difference and then to take her off whole grains, cut her food into itty bitty pieces and wait 2-4 weeks to see improvement. He also […]

Zoe’s labs on Friday were better in some ways and about the same in others. Her level of kidney stress was the same (just outside of normal) but her red blood cells started rebounding and she gained a little weight back. We’ve rented a very sensitive scale to weigh her daily at home […]

We’ve tried Immodium which gave her stomach cramps and only delayed the diarrhea until a later time and we’ve been using some heavy duty electrolyte replacement that tastes horrible. Her Saturday labs showed happy kidneys but she doesn’t look great and her electrolytes are […]

We were able to bring Zoe home yesterday afternoon with the hopes that her diahrrea will stop quickly once her antibiotic regiment is over. I gave her last dose this morning so tomorrow hopefully will be better for her. She’s not having a great day so far but we were sent home with Bicitra which […]

There was a moment yesterday evening when I thought I’d made a mistake calling in to the docs. We got checked into the hospital at about 6:30 or so and I realized she hadn’t had diahrrea since 11:15 that morning and she proceeded to have a good wet diaper right before they placed her IV. We […]

(Paul Writing)
I’m doing this as a placeholder until Jen gets done with “celebrating” with the other families at Children’s on the dawning of another year.
Zoe is still having issues with hydration.
More to come tomorrow
